Today I had the pleasure of visiting Dragon Bao Bao Rotating Mini Hot Pot, a unique and incredibly satisfying dining experience that offers a fresh twist on traditional hot pot. The concept here is ingenious: rather than a single large shared hot pot in the center of the table, each diner gets their own personal mini hot pot, while ingredients rotate past on a conveyor belt system.
The restaurant operates as an all-you-can-eat buffet, but with a surprisingly affordable price point that makes it an outstanding value. Despite the budget-friendly cost, the quality and variety of ingredients were impressive. The conveyor belt continuously delivered fresh vegetables, various types of mushrooms (including brown shimeji), thinly sliced meats, seafood, tofu, and noodles - all neatly arranged in color-coded plates or containers.
What makes Dragon Bao Bao particularly enjoyable is the freedom to customize your hot pot exactly to your preference. You select your preferred soup base (I went with a spicy Sichuan broth that had the perfect level of heat), and then simply pick whatever ingredients appeal to you as they rotate past. There’s no waiting for servers or having to compromise with dining companions on ingredient choices - everyone gets exactly what they want.
The system is cleverly designed for efficiency. Each seat has its own heating element to keep your personal hot pot at the perfect temperature, and there are small dishes of various sauces and condiments to create your ideal dipping blend. It’s rare to find such an interactive, customizable dining experience at such an affordable price point. Whether you’re a hot pot aficionado or new to this style of dining, this restaurant offers a fun, delicious, and surprisingly economical meal that I highly recommend.
